Busy Day Call - figurative city painting

"Busy Day Call"
oil on gallery wrapped canvas

A woman, calling on her cell phone,is
standing near a new building with lots of
windows that reflect her surroundings.
I liked the busy reflections of the windows in contrast
to the bold image of the woman.

Just a quick stop in a doorway to make a call on the cell phone.
I really liked the strong design and color in this one.
All paintings come with sides painted black and ready to hang.

A scene near a little cafe.
Everyone is glued to their cell phones these days.
I keep thinking they must have a lot to say! :)

"Hot Pretzels"
oil on canvas - 8"x10"

One of our familiar scenes in the city are the food carts
with one of my favorite items - Hot Pretzels!
Caught this young guy pulling his cart to his special corner
to begin his work day.
Many, many years ago I attempted this job. All I remember is that
it was a LOT harder than it looks and.....I didn't last very long :)

"I did this one larger, 8x8", to be able to develop the painting
a bit more.
This is a mural on a building in our art district they call the
Short North. It is obviously a quirky take of the famous
"American Gothic". I used to have a gallery just across the
street from this building. I thought it would be fun to use it
for a different idea."

"Today's piece is one of many scenes I see every day on the
street near the Ohio State Campus. I am sure you have you
noticed that nearly everyone you see walking are also talking
on their cell phones. It has become such a part of everyday
life that it is almost rare to see someone without it. "
